Principal’s Buzz

Congratulations to our Bridgeway staff, students, and parents! Bridgeway has been awarded the Title 1 Academic Achievement Award for 2011-2012. This is the second year in a row that Bridgeway has received this award and we are the only school in Yolo County to receive this distinction. The Title 1 Academic Achievement Award recognizes schools who demonstrate that all students are making significant progress toward proficiency on California academic content standards.  Additionally, Bridgeway’s socioeconomically disadvantaged students must have doubled the achievement targets set for them for two consecutive years. 

STAR testing this year for all 2^nd-8^th grade students is scheduled for

April 30- May 11.  I want to challenge all our students who have been working hard all year to “Go for the Gold!” Students who receive a proficient or advanced in both language arts and math will receive a gold medal.  A silver medal is awarded to a student who receives a proficient/advanced in either language arts or math. Each student’s personal goal is to continue to show progress and growth towards proficiency in all areas.  Our school’s goal is to continue to improve on our current Academic Performance Index of 873.  Go Bees!

Here are helpful guidelines that best prepare students for a successful two weeks of testing.

• Encourage your student to do their best and that you believe they can be successful. 
• Get a good night’s sleep.
• Eat a healthy, nutritious breakfast.
• Come to school on time ready for the day. 

Parents are the best cheerleaders for their child. Children want to please their parents.  Your words of encouragement and praise will keep your child focused and motivated to excel and take the test seriously.  Thank you for your support.

     Tardy students will not be allowed in the classroom after the test has started.  Late students will be scheduled for a make up session.

     Our Open House this year is on May 23, from 5:30-6:30.  We will have a live history exhibition for you to enjoy.
